The UK Home Office has announced the opening of further visa centres in the UK and overseas. This follows the gradual reopening of centres on 1 June, 9 June and 21 June 2020.

Flexible Furlough Starts Today

The government guidance on furlough and the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) makes clear that employees can be made redundant whilst on furlough and that normal redundancy rules and rights apply to furloughed employees.

It has been reported that as many 34% of employers have asked their furloughed employees to carry out some form of work, administrative task or even cover another employee’s work, whilst on furlough.

From 1 July 2020, employers will be able to bring back furloughed employees on “flexible furlough” agreements.
