Right to Work Checklist

You must carry out the below 3 step-procedure before an employee starts work to have an excuse against liability for a civil penalty if they are found to be working for you illegally.

STEP 1: OBTAIN

You must obtain original documents from either List A or List B...

LIST A

LIST B: GROUP 1

o   Passport of a British citizen

o   Current passport endorsed to show that the holder is allowed to stay in the UK and is currently allowed to do the type of work in question

o   Passport or ID card of an European Economic Area (EEA)* or Swiss national

o   Current BRP evidencing that they can currently stay in the UK to do the work in question
