There are some types of special category data under the GDPR that attract a higher level of protection given their sensitive nature. This is referred to as ‘special category’ data and includes information such as health details, information revealing racial or ethnic origin, information revealing political opinions, information revealing religious or philosophical beliefs and biometric data.
