Application fee for EU Settlement Scheme to be scrapped
Theresa May made a statement to MPs today, after losing the vote on her Brexit deal last week, that she will waive the fee for the Settlement Scheme application when the Scheme fully opens on 30 March 2019. Currently those who are 16 and over are required to pay an application fee of £65 and those who are under 16 are required to pay a fee of £32.50 (please note there are exceptions to the fee). Those who have already paid or will pay the fee under the test phase will have their fees reimbursed.
The aim is to ensure there is no financial barrier for EU citizens and their family members to stay in the UK if they wish to do so.
