THE BREXIT PARTY
Welcome to our fifth and final blog in our series summarising each political party’s pledges on matters effecting employment.
Instead of a manifesto, The Brexit Party have released an equivalent “contract” setting out their key pledges should they win the general election.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, their contract is light on employment law and industrial relations pledges with its main focus on exiting the EU.
However, as a general statement the Party sets out that “freed from EU rules on state aid, [they can] invest in strategic industries to create thousands of jobs”.
They also pledge the following:
- Scrap apprentice levy and introduce a new workable apprenticeship scheme
- Improve tax incentives for employers to take on genuine apprentices
- Attract investment and jobs with a series of targeted incentives to drive growth and increase the tax take by introducing a Zero rate Corporation Tax for the first £10,000 of pre-tax profits
- Create Freeports in certain regions to encourage investment and create new jobs
This concludes our series detailing employment law pledges from the Labour Party, the Conservative Party, the Liberal Democrats the Green Party and the Brexit Party.
