Return from short term absence checklist

Checklist for employees returning from a short-term absence.

  • Do not assume that you do not need to do anything when an employee returns from short-term absence.
  • Enquire about the employee`s health and ask if there are any underlying medical causes, personal reasons or work related issues that you should know about and may be able to offer support for.
  • Update the employee on any arrangements or changes made in their absence and make informal enquiries about how the employee is coping following the return to work
