Processing a request for ordinary paternity leave
- Does the employee’s request, oral or written, specify when leave is to start and whether it is for blocks of one week or for two consecutive weeks?
- Has the employee confirmed the expected week of childbirth or, in the case of adoption, the date when they were notified of placement?
- Has the required period of notice been served? This should be by the end of the 15th week before the week in which the baby is due or within 7 days of receiving confirmation of the adoption (“the qualifying week”).
