Numerous studies reveal that sick days cost the UK economy between £10 - £12 billion annually with the average level of sickness absence per employee per year at about 8 days.
So how can employers tackle sickness absence and the cost to their business?
The Employment Rights Act 1996 requires employers to provide employees with written particulars of employment including “any terms and conditions relating to incapacity for work due to sickness or injury, including any provisions relating to sick pay”.
