Personal Data Breach
What is a personal data breach?
A ‘personal data breach' means a breach of security leading to the accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorised disclosure of, or access to, personal data transmitted, stored or otherwise processed;
This can include an unauthorised third party getting access to the data via ‘hacking’ but can also, and more commonly, involves someone within the data controller accesses the data without authorisation or accidentally alters, deletes or loses personal data.
