Deborah Scales comments on employees and foreign holidays this summer

Clarkslegal Employment Associate, Deborah Scales, comments in The Sun on whether employers can stop employees taking foreign holidays.

Under the Working Time Regulations (WTR) employers cannot deny workers their right to take statutory annual leave but they do have considerable power to control when holiday is taken. This could be an issue this year as many workers delay booking, or try to cancel prebooked leave, depending on covid travel restrictions in holiday destinations. Deborah Scales advises employees not to book anything until you’ve had your holiday approved.
