Processing a request for ordinary paternity leave

  1. Does the employee’s request, oral or written, specify when leave is to start and whether it is for blocks of one week or for two consecutive weeks?
  2. Has the employee confirmed the expected week of childbirth or, in the case of adoption, the date when they were notified of placement?
  3. Has the required period of notice been served? This should be by the end of the 15th week before the week in which the baby is due or within 7 days of receiving confirmation of the adoption (“the qualifying week”
